Justifying Usability

The Hong Kong UPA Chapter welcomes Douglas Pyle, a Usability expert from HK / USA / Global Sources.

Building support within your company for a focus on users and user centered design is critical for product success, and for usability to provide maximum benefit to the company. It's extremely important to your career success as well.

Learning how and when to explain the overlap between the goals of the user and the goals of the business, is a key to providing the most value to the company, and your being seen as critical to it's success.

Biography:
For the last year, Douglas Pyle has been the User Interface & Architecture manager for Global Sources, LLC www.globalsources.com in Hong Kong.

Prior to joining Global Sources, Doug managed the User Experience for www.microsoft.com, MS Press, MSDN, and TechNet, with Microsoft in Redmond, Washington, USA.

Doug has spoken in and outside the US on user experience topics, and has published a number of papers on user research.

Doug dreams of a not too distant world where companies compete based on the ease of use of their products.
